Taken from boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/. Thank you, Brandon Gray, for running this site.

'Teacher's Pet' had an average boxoffice drop. This weekend it's likely to be yanked from most of its theaters. I hope Sony takes advantage of the oscar noms to expand 'Triplets of Belleville to more theaters'. OTOH I heard that Sam Goldwyn's strategy for 'Tokyo Godfathers' was to give it a nominal December release for Oscar qualification and then give its real limited release in January, so that it would be very visible during the oscar nomination process. It didn't work....Well, at least it's already doubled the boxoffice of 'Millennium Actress'.

the movie quite a lot and found it to be incredibly warped and surreal.

You should see the glowing review in Daily Variety for Teacher's Pet. The reviewer loved it, and seemed to be predicting that word of mouth would give the movie a big boost. I haven't seen it, but it sounds like, to beat a dead horse, another case of something new and noteworthy being passed over by the general public.
And in other news, Steve Jobs of Pixar says he's giving up on renewing with Disney. Just a little side item here, barely worth noting...

According to the ABC article, the talks broke down because Pixar wanted to take back the copyrights on its previous films, thus enabling itself rather than Disney to make sequels. Disney would not agree.

How will this affect the future of Ghibli releases from Disney in the US? John Lassetter seemed to be the driving force for them.

Pixar still owes Disney 2 more films, by 2005 or 2006. Hopefully, John will be done by then. Or he could always moonlight....

The next one is 'The Incredibles' this November, then one more which name I can't remember. I can't wait for 'The Incredibles.' Overweight middle-aged superheroes, I am *SO* there...

The real interesting part is that Pixar will set up their own traditional animation facility. Uh...I guess I will have to move back to Silicon Valley to get a job....^_^;
Even wilder news: SO DOES ILM.
