A General Question That Shouldnt Make You Feel Dirty

The question posted about which anime character would you choose to basically own got me to thinking. (Tough concept for me, since with the anime I enjoy, the characters seem realized enough that owning them would be a punishment for them, but I digest. [dinnertime])

Heh. Sometimes I think I'd like to be Keiichi. Then I look across the room at the goddess I !DID! marry, and figure I'd not do much better if any <grins>

I'd be too much of a drag in too many of them - I'd like to explain things and take away the slapstick humor, or I'd like to take a baseball bat to another character, or I'd just end up being 'twiterpated' in too many of them (seeing Kei's shoulder strap slip down in 'Hand Maid May' would tend to make my vocal centers not fully functional ... <grins>

I'd like to be Tenchi so I could have a girlfriend like Mihoshi. Sweet, kind, gentle,caring affectionate and cute and so she would be treated alot better than she is in TU.

Better yet, I'd like to be in Gundam Wing as cannon fodder as myself.

That way, I'm at least going to get some screen time, probably... there are a real shortage of real people in that anime.

If I can be anything I want to? Hmmmm... I think I'd be the coolest inanimate object in Utena, except I'd be sentient! With my inherent powers, I could even mess with Akio's little mind!

OTOH, being any super-powered character in any shounen anime except Evangelion would mean I'd get to get over my psychological hangups with a single moment of revelation. Well, if I don't get killed, so I'd guess I'd also have to be a loner early on in the series, so I can become a sidekick. Either that, or find some different, equally 'quick solve' anime cliche, like the fundamentally-decent-person-transformed-into-evil- monster in a mahou shoujo anime. Probably less dangerous, overall.

Oh, and advice for everyone else- if you want to get romantically involved, remember to enter the anime early enough so you encounter the person you're stalking before anyone else of the opposite gender (of the char. in question) does. And make yourself stand out, somehow.

Well, I think I gave my neccessary explanations. Why else would anyone choose to be a sidekick? Or youma-bait?

If that didn't pan out, I'd like to be a member of the supporting cast of Oh My Goddess- maybe a motor club member or an employee of Whirlwind. It's such a pleasant, benevolent universe, and being a supporting cast member instead of one of the principals keeps me out of Mara's line of fire...

If I were to stay myself, then a university anime would probably be the best one, one of the ones in which the characters actually attend class, but I'm not sure which ones that would be.

After all, I'm consistently seeing ads in the Chronicle of Higher Education for Japanese universities seeking English professors. It's only a short distance from that to a job at Nekomi Tech or some such university.

Any shojo, as the villain. I would succeed in taking over the world by either A-Sending *multiple* minions against the heroines, instead of one at a time, or B-Going after the heroines *myself*, with backup.
