Anime similar to Chance Pop Session

Hi all,

After watching Princess Nine and Chance Pop Session, it makes me wonder, is there any anime anyone can recomemnd on the same lines?

Let's say I want to take a small hiatus on mahou/comedy/action/sci-fi type of anime, and go into drama/non-comedy romance. (Basically, no Card Captor Sakura, Love Hina, Tenshi Muyo, Vandread, Ai Yori Yoshi, His and Her Circumnstances, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bepop, et al). To be a little more picky, no super-human powers, although a little bit exagerated skills is fine. (So, no Kimagure Orange Road, but You're Under Arrest is OK). And, no, no SoftCel/NuTech or similar releases.

Anime that fits the description above:

1) Sentimental Journey (When they are going to release that is another totally different matter) 2) Omohide Poro Poro (Again, when it will be released???) 3) Whisper of the Heart (ditto) 4) I can Hear the Sea (again, ditto)

Anime that applies, but already have:

1) Perfect Blue 2) Hotaru no Haka

While there are bits of comedy here and there in it, I think Maison Ikkoku might be right up your alley. It's a big favourite of mine. Shame about the company that licenced it here, though.

Uh... that's in his list of no's. Right after Ai Yori Yoshi and right before Rurouni Kenshin.

Battle Athletes is an older but pretty decent 'sports' anime, although it concentrates more on the characters that thn actual 'sports' (think Olympic competition) It certainly avoids the hokeiness P9 sometimes falls into. There's also a vague romantic angle, although realize nearly all the characters in the series are girls. ^^;
