What happened to Millenium Actress in the Best Animated Feature category? I saw all the films nominated and feel that MA was far superior than any of them. Nemo was cool, but CG and Animation should not be in the same category. You would think that after Spirited Away was nominated and won last year that more Anime features would have made it into the mix.

Also, Ken Watanabe should've won best performance by an actor in a supporting role.

Computer graphics or 'cel', they're still animated films.
I'm not totally sure how the Oscar voting process works, but I'd assume that after the original list of eligable nominees was released certain members of the Academy would have seen all the animated films eligable before making their nominations. Nemo, Brother Bear and Belleville just got more nomination votes, I guess.
Admittedly very few people would have been able to see Tokyo Godfathers before the Oscars, so it was hardly likely to get nominated. But Millennium Actress only got good-to-fair reviews, compared to the blanket praise for Nemo (I've only seen Nemo and Belleville), so it's not that surprising that the Oscar voters didn't think it was a s good as the other nominated films (either that or they didn't see it).

No matter what else was nominated Nemo would have won, it was the most successful movie of the summer and one of the most succesful dvd's of all time.

Where have you been? It wasn't included when the nominations were announced last month.
They're all animation. Next thing you'd say is claymation is not animation.
Just because it's anime doesn't mean it's automatic.
Laters. =)

I thought Millennium Actress deserved an Oscar more than Sprited Away did, but the odds of them picking an anime movie two years in a row is rather low. And Finding Nemo was damned good, in a different way, so I'm not grumbling. It's not like they gave it to Brother Bear or eight Crazy

Eight. Crazy. Nights. Worst. Animated. Movie. Ever.
Only could take 30 minutes of it until I hit the eject button.
It wasn't nominated, thank Kami-sama. (or G_d, in this case) The great classic Chanukah animated movie will have to wait. There has been a decent Passover animated movie, ('Prince Of Egypt'...it wasn't bad, folks, the art direction was gorgeous, and it was one of the last things Ofra Haza did before her untimely death) but nothing for Chanukah yet.
Damn you, Adam Sandler!!! Someone should put you out of our misery! (Shakes fist)

I have been annoyed since the nominations came out. As far as the reviews go, if you believe the Rotten Tomatos website, the average review (from 42 posted) was a 7.5/10 and a 7.7/10 from the cream of the crop. Most big movies don't get even close to that.
