Can anyone tell me why most FANSUBBERS are still stuck in the TAPE(VHS) AGE ?

A few fansubbers have started to put animes on CDRs(in DIVX format),others on VCDs(MPEG-1 format)..

If a 'fansubber' put his wares on Real audio or Media Player format BEWARE !

So far I have only seen 1 group doing it on DVD and they ONLY put 3 eps per DVD and they prices are very high !

Now that prices of BLANK DVD are below $2.00 US per dvd...and DVD burners are below the $400 US mark..

I have NO QUALMS buying from fansubbers(I DID buy from HKong 'copiers' in the past- this to get 'ole series but NOT worth it as the subs are awful- most are translated into English from the Chinese version that was translated from the Japanese version),many errors, bad sounds, quite a few crooks, etc in short CRAP HKong style..

And NO, Ebay 'garantee will NOT protect you(been waiting for reimbursement for about 9 months from EBAy on a fraudster that sold 'all of Dragon Ball- he was based in the US- now that the DBall scam has been milked for a while ,it is the turn of ALL of the Sailor Moon series scam run,as always on EBAY...)

Finally- why not get my animes on via IRC ? Well- have you not heard of badwith limits ? Most ISP ARE setting up limits(in my case 10 GIGS per month and I have to pay a premium;I use at least 6 GIGS per month just doing normal downloading, surfing etc EXCLUDING any anime downloads..

ryb..

Note-I have NO qualms with fansubbers NOT stopping a series as soon as the 'purchase annoncement or intention is made'.Most do it within a few weeks or so thus one can COMPLETE the series before it is 'retired'..

With compagnies gobblying upon series as soon as they start showing on TV Tokyo.WOWOW TV etc..the time span of fansubbers is dramticlaly decreasing..and oen need to MOVE fast and have the cash handy to BUY said series from fansubbers before they are ':unavailable'..

People who sell fansubs on eBay and at high prices are *not* fansubbers - they're pirates. You deal with these scum and you get what you deserve. Quit whining.

You're missing the point entirely.

Buying fansubs on eBay is asking to be ripped off by pirates. Try actual fansub distros, or digisubs, which accrue no cost except your line charges.

Ever heard of GOOGLE, bitchnuts?

Most fansubbers are going the digital route now and distributing fansubs via the Internet, because it's far less costly.

Those aren't 'Fansubbers'. Those are 'Pirates'.

I'd disagree, unless there's an option marked 'delivery by idiot-seeking deathmissile' on eBay.

Last I checked, usenet was not US-only. That's where mine come from.

There's your number one mistake. 'fansubbers on ebay'

When was the last time you saw a DVD with just three episodes? The ones I've bought over the past 1 1/2 years contained at least 4. But I seriously dough that ryb has ever bought any legitimate anime.

And I, for one, would be very hesitant to by a sub-only DVD. It's really a complete waste of the medium just as a dub-only DVD is a complete waste.

I thing the max is usually 6. Yes, they could fit more in, but I by a DVD for the quality as well as the quantity. You have the balance things out somewhere.

Internet II? Is that suppose to be some reference to be IP6?

post that went like this:

A 10-gig UPLOAD limit or a 10 gig DOWNLOAD limit? Big difference there.

Why would you want to? I doubt you could get all the anime in Japan off illegal pirated DVD-Rs from eBay, either. But 10 gigs of downloading a month is plenty if you pick out a few series to follow instead of trying to get every single one. I mean, why are you paying $50 a month for internet if you're not going to USE that 10 gigs?

Gatekeepers. It's about the only recent one I can think of, though.

Six is about right. There's been a few with seven (The Slayers box sets come to mind), but that's pushing it. I have the Slayers Try box set, and the menus are static and clunky and extras extremely minimal. Acutally, Internet2 is the right name. It's a high-tech, high-speed backbone set up for academic research use. They work with IPv6 among other things. http://www.internet2.edu/

Ryb, being the genius he is, seems to believe that undergraduates get fiber hookups to it in their dorm rooms.

If that was a claim made by Alderson-Broaddus College, I would be half tempted to believe it myself. But alas, I don't have such faith in their current President, Markwood.

I don't have enough faith in ryb's intelligence to think he could get into a Canadian college. Unlike some American universities, I don't think they admit anyone with a warm body and student aid paperwork.
