Having watched 5 episodes of each, I note that in PrettyCure, the girls are fighting against their opponent or his monsters, whereas in Cosprayers, one side or the other is getting helplessly battered.

I can't think of any other anime than Cosprayers which portrays violence against the helpless as a positive thing, but Cosprayers seems to me to have the theme that 'weakness invites oppression, and it's the fault of the weak for not resisting effectively'. Anyone who can be bullied deserves to be?

I won't claim that cowardice is not a weakness, but I can't believe assaulting someone until they fight back is a cure for it; Pavlov's dogs demonstrated the psychology of Learned Helplessness quite clearly, and that sort of treatment produces a mad dog who will lash out randomly. We see this is Tokyo Mew Mew, when Ichigo's attempt to aid the dominated Lettuce results in Lettuce attacking Ichigo.

In the first season of Sailor Moon, Usagi progresses from a crying puddle in episode 1 to a champion who can stand alone at the gates of hell without backing

As Jamie Lee Curtis said on 'Freaky Friday'- 'It's character building!'

I think it is an attempt to throw some morality lessons into the plot.

Cosprayers sort-of has a plot. Newly recruited shy girl saves everyone in bathing suits. Maybe the last episode will help clearlfy things. Sailor Moon season 1 did start out little slow but the end was worthwhile.
