Finally finished SaiKano (GET THIS SERIES!)

I don't know why the fansubbers put the warning at then end of episode 10. Eps 11-13 weren't any more graphic or shocking than the events through the first 10 episodes. Most of the cast was dead by that time, anyway; so how much worse could it get outside of total obliteration?

I mean, it was obvious that there wasn't going to be any happy endings to this series; and in a way, it was quite the touching finish the way they wrote the final few minutes to episode 13. Almost more 'sweet' than 'bitter'.

As far as recommendations, this one is a must-have if you like a bit of emotional angst and despair in your collection. This is every bit as graphic and as horror-laden as Now & Then Here & There, but then dives even deeper into the emotional and psychological realms of sadness, helplessness, and hopelessness.

I think I REALLY need to dive into a few comedy series episodes tomorrow...

I dunno. Maybe because all I'd heard about the show was how horribly, rendingly depressing it was before I'd watched it so I went into it expecting too much from the emotional side of it, but I really didn't find it all that sad. And I cry at card commercials. Tonight I cried at the end of Iron Giant even though I've seen it before and I KNOW that the dang robot comes back. But the only part of SaiKano that choked me up a bit was Akemi's death. It's almost like the show was trying too hard to be sad. It was like, 'HEY, LOOK HOW VERY VERY TRAGIC THEIR LOVE IS' the whole time, and after a little while I was just like 'OKAY! I GOT IT!' The way Akemi died, and the way she acted when she died, was the only part to me that rang true. The rest of it was just a little bit maudlin for me, I guess.

I guess if this show is sadder than Now and Then, Here and There I have nothing to fear from watching that show, either...
