I rented the first volume at Hastings. At first it was a little boring (I hate tournament arcs) but by the fifth episode, I was enjoying it.
However I noticed the first episode seemed to kinda skip ahead

From what I heard (this is second-hand info) they altered it to fit what's being shown on TV in the US.

That I unfortunately do not know. However, the anime and manga diverge quite a bit along the way
