I finally have all of the 'Comet Empire' on DVD, and I can see episodes I haven't seen since 1981. Retro anime heaven. Next is the third series, which I've never seen at all. It seems like I've heard that it has a different voice cast. Is this true? As egregious as the cuts and changes made to the original Yamato shows are, I actually like most of the 'Star Blazers' cast. In fact, when I first heard Kodai speak in the Yamato movies, it kinda creeped me out. Anyway, the whole thought of having to deal with a new cast (like one of the first Yamato movies on VHS, which I hated) makes me wary of buying into the third series. Can anyone who's seen any of it make a recommendation?

And since we're on the subject, does anyone know if there's any hope of ever seeing an original language, subtitled release of the original Yamato tv series in the US? A while ago, it seemed unlikely. But with even Mospeada being released subtitled on DVD...well, I can dream, can't I?
