The Screen Daily website has two stories on new live-action remakes of popular anime titles.

First is this story on the live-action remake of Kite:

And the other is 20th Century Fox's $100 million dollar live-action version of Dragonball Z:

Rejoice or cringe as you see fit.

Having just watched the old live-action version (it was on the International Channel last week) I'm all cringed out.

I am, however, willing to accept the fact that the characters in a live-action movie can't look remotely like Toriyama's drawings, so if they get the plot, and especially the humor, remotely right I might even enjoy it. It will be interesting to see how they manage a 'franchise' in which the characters grow up.
