Love Hina question

Hi,

I just wondered: Does the Hinata Inn from Love Hina really exist or is it pure fiction? The pictures from the Anime sometimes look like they were drawn after a real setting. I'm interested because I plan to visit Japan and if it exists I'd really like to visit Hinata.

I imagine it's based on a popular style of resort buildings, but is most likely entirely fictional.

Here's a site (japanese) that shows some of the places that was used by Akamatsu Ken as background scenery for Love Hina.

From Love Hina 0 (IIRC): Hinata-sou is actually two buildings. The ground floor was modelled after a particular two-story inn; the second and third floors were modelled after another inn (three-story).

Haruka's teashop does exist (minus the smoking proprietress, sadly).

So does the street with the bridge, as seen a lot in the anime and very little in the manga.

Again from LH 0: 'These inns are found in a remote and little-known hot springs town...'

Speaking of houses...

A lot of guys in Love Comedies end up getting homes in out-of-the-way places (presumably to curb the madness away from spectators) Any types living smack dab in the city?
