Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch (new series - lets talk spoilers while were at it...)

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the post-Full Moon wo Sagashite waters...

Yes, this is something in the Mirumo de Pon/ Full Moon/Mew Mew vein of cute shows that can easily become overly ANNOYINGLY cute.

Imagine Sailor Moon NOT using her tiara. Instead, imagine her grabbing a magical microphone SINGING to her MotDs (hey, I couldn't make this stuff up if they paid me...).

Penguins named Hippo (your basic fingernail-on- chalkboard mascot... too bad those two kids didn't roll this thing right out of the series), another business acting as a 'front' (and what self-respecting guest wouldn't want to stay at an establishment named the Hotel Peach Parfait??? Oooh, I smell the ***** rating from the hotel critics already), mermaids in human guise everywhere (not that this is necessarily bad... they were the highlight of the episode... a huge mark in the series's favor, IMO).

This series is already treading thinly on the line between 'awww' cutedom and 'grrrr' saccharin overload. And they haven't even gotten the trio together yet; the first episode was a solo from the main character, Luchia. Two more singing mermaids are to come (ep 02 will feature the second one, according to the previews)...

It's a bit too early to tell how the characters will develope; but if the lead, Luchia, goes too far into Full Moon/Mitsuki mode, I'm gonna be out of this one pretty quick. Don't even have to wait for a swimsuit episode, since we're talking mermaids here...

Well they are airing in the morning aiming for younger audience.........

I watched the first episode to sorta check it out......(this genre aint exactly my kind of stuff.....so......but I actually kind of like Mirumo de Pon, thought it's pretty funny....hella better than this and Tokyo MM. Also not as absurd and stupid Man, Luchia has the worst voice I ever hear for a female lead character in this genre.(the song is probably sang by different person)
