Ah, you're wondering what other people are watching... Just the most recent five? Okay: Princess Tutu; Card Captor Sakura; Super GALS!; Angelic Layer; Nadia

(Yes, I am watching quite a bit of shoujo anime these days. Blood-and-guts gets boring fast, after all. Why do you ask?)

Cowboy Bebop is recent? It's 6 years old! Some of the other are no spring chickens either... Unless you mean 'recently seen' which opens up the playing field to nearly everything.

For me, in no particular order: R.O.D The TV, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, S.E. Lain

For me: R.O.D. the TV, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo... and I don't have the drive space to download anything more or the money to buy any official released (or for that matter a new hard drive). >_< There are several series I'd love to be watching, but practicality gets in the way.

Well, fansub-wise, the five most recent shows I've enjoyed the most are:

Jubei-chan 2 - season 1 arrived in the post today so I can watch that at some point, but I continue to be impressed by the sequel. While the comedy isn't laugh-out-loud funny, the manic stuff fits surprisingly well with the more serious Jiyu-angst bits - and I love the way the series is directed - long still shots for appropriate dramatic effect contrast well with the rapid, sketchy look of the fight scenes, and my favourite touch is the 'screeching violins' every time Freasha gets serious.

Planetes - gets better and better and better with every episode. I can't recall anything with such attention to continuity and long-running plot threads, and I'm really impressed with the voice acting in particular (the character animation is amazingly detailed, too).

Full Metal Alchemist - I'm not that interested in the current story arc, but FMA is head and shoulders above other shows of its ilk in virtually every way. Just give us more scenes with the supporting cast, already!

Twin Spica - the writing is what makes me watch Spica - the storyline is fairly slow, the cast have yet to become particularly interesting and the animation's variable in quality (nice background work, though), but the scripting is excellent.

Chrno Crusade - the filler episodes are rubbish, but when it sticks (roughly) to the manga Chrno Crusade is good fun and very nicely animated. Tomoko Kawakami's casting was perfect for Rosette, especially in the series' more serious moments.

I'd perhaps say Planetes was one of my top 5 series of all time, it really has impressed me that much. Other four would be Arjuna (yeah, I know), Escaflowne, Twelve Kingdoms and Witch Hunter Robin.

Hmm. If one includes the last five watched, instead of just top five currently ongoing, I'd add Card Captor Sakura, Inuyasha, and... Slayers, I think; it's been a while.

If recent = still running:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist 2. PLANETES 3. Twin Spica 4. Uninhabitated Planet Survive 5. Gokusen

The first two have good chances to become all-time favorites.

I'm downloading quite a bit, but have been unable to become overly enthusiastic about most of it. What I watch IMMEDIATELY after getting it on my hard drive...

PLANETES Gokusen

Man, that's a short list... it's a big drop down to next group...

Area 88 Saiyuki Reload

and then to the 'they're awful; but you just can't help it' class...

Cosprayers Daphne in the Brilliant Blue

Most of the rest is accumulating on my slave drive. I occasionally enjoy the Tokyo Mew Mew mini-marathon; and I still have several burned-but-unwatched series... it's just a matter of motivation to spend some serious viewing time to catch up.
