I quote:

'Unfortunetly, we would have to take off Miyuki-chan in Wonderland and Shirahime-syo because it just got liscenced by Tokyopop. Don't be depressed. Rejoyce! It's wonderful that they're gunna get them scanlated officially! So if you really liked it, go get it as soon as it's released!'

Yes, they have licensed both of these, along with Dukylon and CLAMP Campus Detectives I think. I think they've licensed the one about the Man of 20 Masks or something like that... can't quite remember myself. RG Veda is still unlicensed as far as I know.

Yep, Tokyopop has them. In addition to Miyuki Chan in Wonderland and Shirahime-syo: Snow Goddess Tales, they also got Duklyon: CLAMP School Defenders, The Man of Many Faces, and CLAMP School Detectives.

Semi-OT response - TokyoPop is everywhere these days, they sure do seem to be spending a lot on marketing. I walked into a Tower Records this afternoon, and there was a cardboard cutout of Chii attached to a Tokopop manga display. IIRC they had 'Wish', 'Paradise Kiss', 'Love Hina', 'GTO', 'Dragon Knights' and 'Chobits'. This seemed redundant, since two doors away was Million Year Picnic, one of the region's best comic stores. Recently TokyoPop displays have appeared in a local anime store as well, one that didn't carry manga before.

Tokyopop isn't marketing to people who shop at comic book stores, because that's preaching to the choir; they're trying to sell to people outside the traditional demographic (because they can't reach the volume sales they need through existing channels).

Their investment support must be in the millions of dollars to support a push this hard, I would think; I wonder where it's coming from.

Disney. Or, at the very least, the Mouse is helping a bit. After all, TP does have comics coming out based on Monsters, Inc., Kim Possible and Lizzie

Er...

Miyuki-chan in Wonderland is an oversized one-shot collection of the various (mis)adventures of Miyuki-chan. (Miyuki-chan in RPG-land was my favorite.)

I doubt Tokyopop is going to keep the book the same size though...
