Plasta World - Episode 1 - new anime

Man, it sounds and looks awfully like the other gameboy game based series, Rockman EXE.........

It is similar, although I don't remember any ads for little models to put on top of the GameBoys in the early episodes of 'Rockman EXE'. The other ads in this episode's broadcast were mainly for 'Beyblade' components and for new 'One Piece' toys and games.

It's amazing how many of these shows are clones of each other, but for some fortunate reason 'One Piece' has remained unique and very watchable in comparison to the likes of 'Plasta World'.

Well One Piece is based on the manga of the same name which is also very very popular still in Japan. The merchandises such as games and other stuff spawned later unlike the Plasta world you mention and Rockman EXE& obviously stuff like pokemon are based on the games/toys from the very beginning. I haven't seen much One Piece yet but my brother borrowed whole bag of One Piece manga from his friend lately......I might check it out since I heard it's pretty interesting and it should be seeing how long it's be going on now like Detective Conan.

*nod* Digimon & (I think) YuGiOh are other examples of merchandised shows which had storylines all written out BEFORE they had a marketing mass. Although the latter is agreed to have pretty much been dragged down by it.

Will you be getting anime from anywhere else? I'm rather fond of your reviews and would hate for you to no longer have new shows to talk

Thanks for the kind words. I'll likely have to resort to internet sites and the old standby - money for discs. It all depends upon how well my friend's plans for the future work out - if things go well for her she will be moving away from Japan. Good for her, not for me, but then I've been really, really fortunate that this exchange has been going on for as long as it has ( six years now ).
