Greetings and felicitations. I've been thinking about this for a while, and have decided to *just once* revise the Usenet Manga Glossary (reconciling versions 1.2 [1] and 1.22 [2] into a version 1.3) and probably the Usenet Manga Resources FAQ [3]. If those go well

A couple of facts that need checking:
'Animation. The word 'anime', NOT 'manga', is now used to describe any type of cel-based animation.'
Isn't the word 'anime' used for *all* types of animation?
'bukyou (wuxia $BBIp6'^(J)
'[...] Japanese readers have had some limited exposure to the wuxia manga style via the work of Taiwanese artist Chen Wen (Toushuu Eiyuuden)
$BN66cK1LD( , who now both draw specifically for Kodansha.'
Are Chen and Lee still working for Kodansha?

Chen Wen, no, at least not regularly, his Heros of East Chou Dynasty has 4? compilation, the last story appear around 5-8 years ago on Morning? and Kodansha published an artbook of his about that far back, too, Chen Wen's art can also be found as cover and insert arts for novel about the romance of the three kingdom series, but I am not sure if those novels are published by Kodansha. same for his works on the characters designs of romance of the three kingdom computer games, don't think the game company are Kodansha related.
as to Lee, no idea, have to check the Morning website to make sure, but I don't think so, either. there might be a Korean on that mag, but I am not sure it is Lee or Wang. there is an Korean wu-xia title running on Bunch, but it is not specificed for Kodansha only, it was a Korean Manwah being 'imported' to Japan as fillers.
the glossary looks fine to me? unless you have some specific nomenclatures you wish to add? as to top ten lists, etc, w/o a newslink of actual sales number, all our lists would just be guesses to what is popular, etc. even from NT's ranking is only from month to month and volume to volume, very hard to tell the actual accumulated numbers. if you want our 'guesses' of what is popular I can try.

Had to think twice here to see what you mean. Yea, nowadays 'cel-based' doesn't apply anymore. I would drop the word 'cel-based' and replace it by

I'm double spacing the word and the description, e.g.:
Short for 'comic market'; also 'Comike' or 'CM'....
Thanks, but IIRC those lists were compiled solely from either Tohan or Nippon Shuppan Hanbai, and thus represented a fraction of the market. (Forty percent, perhaps, but still...) I'd rather have no list, or a more comprehensive one. :-/
I was going to insert something similar at the beginning of the Glossary, though I'd probably put it more bluntly.
I hadn't thought of that, though I will take a look at it. Thank you.

More fact checking:
'[...] now featuring around 20,000 doujinshi sellers at each event.'
This site states 35,00 circles and 350,000 attendees.
<http://www.benher.org/FAQ_CM.php>
Can this be confirmed?
Also, what formats of doujinshi are there

You seem to be posting the japanese using ISO-2022-7BIT encoding, but the news system is apparently eating the escapes (anyway it's not coming through properly, and your headers just say 'us-ascii' .
If you can convince your posting program to use mime or something, that might work better.

I have an official catalog of Comic Market 65 (Dec/28-30, 2003). In 'For the Foreigners' section of the book, it says:
<quote> What is Comic Market? Comiket is a quater of a century old event with more than 35,000 Dojinshi-circles and 300,000 participants. Dojinshi-circles are here to distribute their creations. At the Corporate Booths, companies sharing and supporting the ideas of the Comiket are holding booths there. Most Dojinshi-circles are not here for profit. They want to enjoy communication with other participants through their creations. Because comminication stimulates creativity and makes way for better creations. This is one of the most important ideas of the Comic Market. </quote>
The book is about 1,400 pages thick and weighs 1.8kg. 70% of the pages are for introduction of Doujinshi-circles. Each page has a 6x6 grid of which a column introduces a circle. 1,400*0.7*6*6 gives 35,280 and looks to prove the demographic. I have never been so brave to go to the chaos and/or heaven though.
