Sailor of the Rings?

It's amazing what strange things your brain will come up with in those minutes between sleep and waking. Today, while lying in bed, I found myself pondering correspondences between the characters in Sailor Moon and the characters in Lord of the Rings. I make no pretense that this is anything but ridiculous. ^_^

**(The following post contains spoilers of varying degrees for both.)

INNER SENSHI

Sailor Moon: Aragorn, of course, for obvious reasons. The unexpected leader/lost royalty who reclaims the throne.

Sailor Mercury: Faramir, book version. The movie hasn't done justice to how sharp-minded and knowledgeable Faramir is.

Sailor Mars: Gandalf. Both use fire-based attacks.

Sailor Jupiter: Boromir, movie version. Big, strong warrior with a heart of gold. (Book-Boromir was less golden-hearted and more annoying.)

Sailor Venus: a tough one, but I'll go with Legolas based on her long blond hair. Also, she fights for love and beauty and Legolas represents love and beauty to a lot of teenage girls.

OUTER SENSHI

Sailor Saturn: Frodo. Small being holding the power to destroy the world!

Sailor Uranus: Eowyn. Tall blond woman who passes for a man and wields a mean sword

Eowyn's supposed to boink Faramir, not Galadriel.

Let's face it, Pluto's a LOT closer (and more pre/portentious) to 'Giggles' Galadriel than Neptune could ever *hope* to be, even on a good day.

Gandalf is an elder mentor figure. Luna fits better. Sailor Mars may be a miko, but that's not enough. She's also bad-tempered. How about Gimli?

What about Chibi-Usa as Gollum?

Well, yeah. But Faramir's female in this version, so it still fits with Haruka's orientation. ^_^

But hmm, okay, how about Merry for Sailor Neptune, then? As the one who accompanies Eowyn on her journey and helps her out in big battles?

Ooh, I like that one. Change noted!

And an addition to the list: Queen Beryl as Saruman. Both are big evil types who spend a lot of time waving their hands over spherical things.
