It's a BEWD. Bit of a letdown, honestly, though it is the best damn looking BEWD yet... an image should be up on yugiohrealms.com

Why is this a bit of a letdown? Out of curiosity, I looked at some pricelists, and BEWD is usually one of the most expensive cards on them. Yes, these are rare BEWDs from the Blue Eyes White Dragon sets, and I understand the difference an edition of a card can make, and I also understand pricelists can lie like a rug. But nevertheless, if this is a letdown, there's something I'm not seeing. What is it?

First of all, a BEWD is not terribly useful. Even as the most powerful two-tribute monster, it's nothing special. Summoned Skull with Axe of Despair (Or hell, even Malevolant Nuzzler) beats it for the same card cost and lesser speed, and even where two-tributes are concerned, most people would rather have the Barrel Dragon and it's effect. It is useful with the Lord of D strategy, but that combo has been obsolete since Metal Raiders. Bottom line, no experienced player puts a BEWD in their deck. It's a collector's card, and a card you are guarenteed to get for $5 is not worth very much. In other words, the Shonen Jump BEWD in really sweet eye-candy and nothing more.

Sorry if this sounds cranky, it's late and I've just put up with Morrowind for an hour and a half.

Page 12 says the same card was included in all copies of issue 1.

It also calls it a 'variant' printed just for that issue, which implies that it's different from the one you can find in game packs, so it probably won't affect the value of the 'original' card among serious

It has variant art. As far as I can determine, it works in gameplay like any other BEWD. Thus, it *will* affect the original card's value, because people who just want to build a deck don't care what the edition is.
