I only just found out about this site, but I think it has been around for a while. I found it to be laugh out loud funny at times, especially since I'm currently in a Japanese class! **

Enjoy! -ANB

Oh yes...^_^ And on that note, I wonder whatever became of Jack Seward (Japanese In Action, the first book to make me realize the difference between 'Textbook' Japanese and the stuff everyone else uses)? I remember he used to work for Mangajin during the last 3 or 4 years of it's life. He was one funny

If by 'laugh out loud funny' you mean 'dumber than shit', then yeah.

Well, I grew up learning Chinese, so practicing how to write all those squiggly hiragana and boxy katakana wasn't much of a problem. The politeness levels aren't that terribly difficult, either, it's just a new set of conjugation rules to remember.

What got me was that I couldn't memorize a new set of pronunciations and meanings on top of the Chinese words I knew. Every time I tried to learn kanji, my previous Chinese kept interfering. Eventually I got lazy and decided to just semi-guess at what the words meant.

I think if Japanese didn't have hirigana and katakana it would be the worst language every because of each kanji having more than one meaning.
