The NOIR English dub

In Newtype USA #3, there was a promo-DVD including the first dubbed episode of NOIR. From what I saw of the dub, it was good. The mood is pretty similar to the Japanese version. Marielle's VA doesn't sound as good as the Japanese VA, but fits the role. Moneca Rial plays Kurika, which is good, but at times reminds me too much of her role of Hyatt from Excel Saga.

I've seen the whole series fansubbed, and while the story (and action sequences) goes downhill in later episodes, it's still astounding visually. The transfer is quite good, which is what we'll expect from the real DVD version. While only dub on the promotional disc, it features both 5.1 and 2.0 soundtracks. When the real DVD release comes out in Febuary, they may have a 5.1 mix for the Japanese version as well.

#3 is out already? #2 just hit the stands here a week or two ago...

My bad. The NOIR DVD is in issue #2, not #3. I forgot that the preview issue was #0.

Now I'm totally confused; Newtype's web site says 'Volume 2, issue 1' but calls it 'issue three':

Er, no. Newtype USA #2 has .hack//SIGN on the cover and the DVD is Chance Pop. You are describing #3, which I haven't seen yet, but will be checking the stores for.
